A tracheostomy tube is inserted through a surgical opening (stoma) of the trachea to secure an airway during breathing, ventilation or weaning. The inner cannulae are inserted and locked in place after the obturator is removed. It acts as a removable liner for the more permanent, outer tube. The inner cannula can be withdrawn for brief periods for cleaning while the outer tube remains in place to maintain the patency of the airway. The product is intended for single use only.
